Crosspoints are a popular standard building block and are used for a variety of switching and multiplexing applications. Some examples are: 1) Multiple input video signals being sent to multiple monitors (e.g., vehicle infotainment and navigation systems), 2) Redundancy applications where serial communications have the requirement of being routed to both on-line and stand-by switch cards, 3) Clock distribution where active and stand-by clocks may be routed to multiple targets, and 4) The example shown here is a mini-video router as used in Broadcast video where multiple channels of 2.97 Gbps serial video data are routed to various locations.
