Customers developing green applications face challenges when wanting to add connectivity. Customers that use a single MCU in their system face the problem in that they are forced to choose either a controller that is great at real-time control or a controller that is best at host communications. The tradeoffs with this solution are obvious; compromise in performance between ideal host and control capabilities and complex tasking/prioritization. Customers using a two-chip solution where the MCUs are dedicated separately for real-time control and for host control experience addition issues associated with this approach such as overcoming the latency challenges when communicating between both MCUs and overcoming the challenges of scheduling and syncing the MCUs. Concerto was designed to allow customers to overcome the compromises between control and connectivity.
