The C2000™ has been tailoring TI’s MCUs for real-time control applications since the device’s inception. The portfolio has evolved over the years to merge the performance benefits of the C28x core’s high-performance digital signal processing capabilities with the integration, low cost, and ease-of-use traditionally associated with microcontrollers. Before Concerto™, C2000 had two series in the market, Piccolo™ and Delfino™. Piccolo is intended for the most cost-sensitive application spaces such as low end motor control and drives, hybrid electric vehicles, lighting, merchant power, and appliances. The Delfino family meets the requirements of customers that need high-performance floating point for applications such as servo drives, UPS, power monitoring, and automotive radar. Concerto is the most recent series for C2000 that adds an ARM Cortex™-M3 core to the C28x core for real-time control applications needing connectivity. These applications include solar, eMeter, drives and automation, and other power electronic applications.
