In summary, the LTC3866 is the first true current mode controller that maintains stability when used with a sub-milliohm DCR inductor. This part operates over a 4.5V to 38V input voltage range that encompasses a wide range of applications including most intermediate bus and battery voltages. The output voltage range is from 0.6V to 5V. Strong onboard N-channel MOSFET gate drivers allow the use of high power external MOSFETs, DR MOS devices or power blocks for output currents up to 40A. The LTC3866 can be easily paralleled for even higher power applications making it ideal for point-of-load applications. Additional features include fixed frequency operation, onboard remote sense diff amp, a low current sense threshold voltage, soft start or tracking and external Vcc control.
