This slide shows the key features and benefits of the LTC3119, including the wide 2.5V to 18V input and 0.8V to 18V output voltage ranges, the buck-boost topology that provides a regulated output with input above, below or equal to the input, 5A continuous output current in buck mode, 3 A in boost mode, and up to 6.5A in pulsed load buck mode. It also features PWM architecture for low noise and jitter-free performance especially in the buck-boost transition region. The device runs down to Vin = 250mV, after start-up and provides up to 95% efficiency which maximizes battery run time and minimizes thermals. MPPC enables operation from current limited sources such as photovoltaic arrays/solar panels. A programmable switching frequency range of 400kHz to 2MHz, synchronizable up to 2MHz enables low noise and maximizes efficiency while keeping external components small. Selectable BurstMode Operation with quiescent current of 31µA extends battery run-time, output short-circuit and thermal overload protection enhance system reliability, and thermally enhanced 28-lead 4mm x 5mm QFN and TSSOP packages are available for a compact, low profile footprint.
