ADAR2001 Transmitter IC
Analog Devices' ADAR2001 is a 10 GHz to 40 GHz, 1:4 channel, 4× frequency multiplier/filter
ADI's ADAR2001 is a transmitter IC optimized for millimeter wave (mmWave) body scanning applications. Accepting a single-ended continuous wave (CW) input signal between 2.5 GHz and 10 GHz, the ADAR2001 provides gain, 4× frequency multiplication, harmonic filtering, 1:4 signal splitting, and four independently controllable power amplifiers (PAs) with differential outputs designed to directly drive dipole antennas with differential inputs.
Features
- Offers operation in the 10 GHz to 40 GHz frequency range and provides sufficient resolution to detect and identify small objects while also providing penetration of clothing to allow walk-through operation
- Fast switching and configuration via advanced sequencers (state machines) simplifies the design of large array systems while maintaining the efficiency and speed of operation to successfully scan these large arrays
- • Highly integrated SiGe device featuring the critical signal chain elements for multi-channel Tx signal paths in mmWave arrays, all in a convenient LGA form-factor. Simplifies the design and operation of large mmWave scanning arrays by eliminating the need to distribute high frequencies (up to 40 GHz) and providing a cost-effective path towards developing modular (tiled) arrays
Applications
- Aerospace and defense: mmWave security scanner imagers
- Communications: multi-channel Tx; LO multiplication and distribution
- Instrumentation: multi-channel Tx; LO multiplication and distribution
- Healthcare: multi-channel Tx as part of imager systems
