To bridge the gap between 8-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers, the Flexis™ series of microcontrollers was introduced. This series features S08 and ColdFire V1 microcontrollers that have pin-for-pin compatibility allowing 8-bit to 32-bit transitions without board redesign.
