This is an example of how a detect switch works in the hot swap application. This example illustrates the function of the normally closed (NC) switch. When the handle is not in position, contact is ON. When the handle is depressed, it will push down the actuator of the detect switch and the contact will be turned to OFF. In the case of a normally open (NO) switch, the contact will be turned ON when the handle is depressed and the actuator is pressed down.
