What is a Diode? – ATM | DigiKey
One of the most common uses for diodes is rectification which is the electrical equivalent of a check valve in a plumbing system. Rectifiers are used in power supply circuits to convert alternating current to direct current but how does this occur? The inner workings of common diodes are explained in this video along with visual representations of the elemental structure and its reaction to forward and reverse current flow.
