TPS84620 Synchronous Buck Integrated Power Solution Slide 5

Designing a very small point of load solution is not always easy. The two pictures in this slide show a discrete design and an integrated power solution side by side. The engineer designing a discrete solution must locate a small inductor, verify the compensation components to ensure the DC/DC converter is stable with the chosen output capacitance and inductance, lay out the DC/DC converter, the magnetics, and compensation, then source the external components. With the TPS84620, most of the work is already done while realizing similar performance compared to the discrete solution. Now, a digital designer can achieve the solution that an expert can design with much less effort. Additionally, the integrated device can easily be soldered onto the circuit board like any other QFN package.
