TEA2376xT Power Factor Correction (PFC) Controllers
NXP's TEA2376xT digital configurable two-phase interleaved PFC controllers are suited for high-efficiency power supplies
NXP's TEA2376xT family of ICs are digital configurable two-phase interleaved PFC controllers for high-efficiency power supplies. This PFC operates in discontinuous conduction or quasi-resonant mode with valley switching to optimize efficiency. The TEA2376 enables the building of an interleaved PFC power supply, which is easy to design with a low external component count. It is available in a low profile and narrow body width SO10 (TEA2376AT) and SO14 (TEA2376BT and TEA2376DT).
The digital architecture of the TEA2376 is based on a high-speed configurable hardware state machine ensuring reliable real-time performance. To meet specific application requirements, many operation and protection settings can be adjusted by loading new settings into the device via I²C during the power supply development. The device is suitable for TV, computing, server, and industrial power supplies. For low-load operation with good efficiency, phase shedding and burst mode operation are included. It supports a high power factor (PF) and a low total harmonic distortion (THD) and contains many protections that can be configured independently by an easy programmable user interface.
The TEA2376DB1602 demo board showcases the TEA2376DT interleaved PFC and TEA2209T active bridge controller ICs. With a Windows OS PC combined with the RDK01DB1563 USB I²C interface, the behavior of the TEA2376 controller can be modified by settings, and the power supply status information can be collected. No heatsinks or forced cooling are implemented.
The TEA2376DK1011 development kit includes a TEA2376DB1604v3 programming board for programming development samples in combination with the RDK01DB1563 I²C interface. This kit includes GreenChip™ TEA2376DT samples and a TEA2376DB1604 programming board.
