OLED SmartDisplay™

NKK's OLED switch and display features a programmable and changeable OLED module with 65,536 colors in 16-bit mode and 256 colors in 8-bit mode. Both devices are capable of displaying full-motion video and offer many advantages over conventional LCD programmable switches including: higher contrast and more brilliant pictures, 180° viewing angles, full colors, lower power consumption, faster response times and no backlighting requirements. The modules are epoxy sealed with straight PC terminals to prevent entry of solder flux and other contaminants. Standoffs are utilized to allow for easy, secure mounting and alignment.

The OLED switch and display are emissive devices operated by commands and data supplied via the SPI communications protocol. The switch is capable of 64 x 48 pixel resolution and the display has 52 x 36 pixel resolution. The wide viewing area of the switch is 15.5 mm x 11.6 mm (horizontal x vertical) and the display is 12.9 mm x 9.9 mm (horizontal x vertical).

In addition, NKK's OLED development kits offer engineers a renewed flexibility because the printed circuit board units have sockets for the OLED pushbuttons and displays, which allow them to be interchanged for optimal design testing. The kits enable rapid prototype designs so that feedback is more easily obtained. Each of NKK's IS development kits have been designed to facilitate the creation, testing and displaying of images with software downloaded from the NKK website. Engineers can choose between a variety of LED backlighting colors, RGBs, intensities and OLED display combinations with the OLED SmartDisplay™ series.
