Image of MPS MPM3901-AEC1 Synchronous Step-Down Power Module The MPS MPM3901-AEC1 is a fully integrated, fixed-frequency, synchronous step-down power module designed for ease of use. It includes built-in power MOSFETs and an inductor, and supports up to 1 A of continuous output current (IOUT) with peak current control for fast and accurate transient response.

With a wide input voltage range from 4.5 V to 60 V, the MPM3901-AEC1 is well-suited for a broad range of step-down applications, particularly those operating from 12 V or 24 V automotive battery systems. Its ultra-low quiescent current of just 2 μA in shutdown mode makes it ideal for battery-sensitive designs.

To improve efficiency at light loads, the module utilizes advanced asynchronous modulation (AAM), which dynamically lowers switching frequency and reduces gate drive losses.

The device comes with a range of built-in functions, including soft start (SS), enable (EN) control, and a power good (PG) signal. It also supports high duty cycle operation and a low-dropout (LDO) mode, making it suitable for cold crank conditions in automotive applications.

Protection features are comprehensive: the MPM3901-AEC1 includes over-current protection (OCP) using valley current detection, short-circuit protection (SCP) with hiccup mode, input under-voltage lockout (UVLO), and thermal protection with automatic recovery.

Thanks to internal compensation, the MPM3901-AEC1 enables a compact and efficient design with minimal need for external components. It is available in a 4 mm x 6 mm QFN-19 package with wettable flanks for improved solder inspection.
