LX3301A Inductive Position Sensor IC

Microchip's LX3301A programmable data conversion IC features digital calibration with non-volatile configuration storage (EEPROM)

Image of Microchip Technology's LX3301A Inductive Position Sensor ICThe LX3301A from Microchip Technology is a highly integrated programmable data conversion IC designed for interfacing to and the managing of inductive position sensors. This sensor uses printed circuit board (PCB) traces to accurately detect the location of the metal target. It is immune to stray magnetic fields and eliminates the need for the magnet required with other types of magnetic field-based sensors. The LX3301A is an Automotive Grade 1, +125ºC device with analog and PWM outputs that features an analog front-end with signal processing and control for six calibration segments to shape the output response. It is offered in TSSOP14 and is specified over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

Each analog signal path includes digital calibration capability which allows the complete analog path (including the external sensors) to be calibrated during the system manufacturing process. The calibration information is written to an internal EEPROM resulting in improved production yields and in-line system upgrades. The EEPROM is coupled with an internal 32-bit RISC processor to provide programmable advanced digital filtering, fault monitoring, and signal processing options to use the IC in a wide range of applications including commercial, industrial, medical, and automotive sensor applications.
