ISP5261 Miniature Wi-Fi®6/Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) Module

The miniature ISP5261 module from Insight SIP acts as a fully functioning BLE and Wi-Fi radio node, with only a battery required for power. It forms the core of an autonomous IoT device requiring BLE and Wi-Fi connectivity.

This module is based on the NXP RW612 single-chip Wi-Fi/BLE/802.15.4 wireless MCU System-on-Chip (SoC). It integrates a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M33 CPU running at 260 MHz, 4 MB of QSPI Flash memory, and 1.2 MB SRAM, as well as analog and digital peripherals. Despite its small size of 12 mm x 12 mm x 1.8 mm, the module integrates decoupling capacitors, a 40 MHz crystal for Wi-Fi and BLE, a 32.768 kHz crystal for low-power timing, DC/DC converters, RF matching circuits, and a dual-band antenna. Low power consumption and advanced power management enable battery lifetime up to several months on AA batteries.

Wi-Fi communication is compliant with the Wi-Fi Alliance specifications for Wi-Fi 6, including the following protocols: IEEE 802.11ax/ac/n/a/g/b/e/i/k/v/w. BLE connectivity is compliant with Bluetooth 5.3, enabling long range. The ISP5261 BLE section can be used either in peripheral or central roles and can handle up to 16 simultaneous central or peripheral connections.

The core 802.15.4-2015 radio at 2.4 GHz also offers support for Matter over Thread and 128-bit AES security. The MCU utilizes TrustZone technology and is protected by a physically unclonable function (PUF). The module can therefore act as the core of a sophisticated IoT end node with a powerful processor, advanced security, and a rich set of peripheral drivers.
