AD9081 MxFE® RF DAC and ADC

Analog Devices' MxFE quad, 16-bit, 12 GSPS RF DAC and quad, 12-bit, 4 GSPS RF ADC make power management easier

Image of Analog Devices' AD9081 MxFE® RF DAC and ADCADI's MxFE integrates multiple 28 nm RF data converter cores and includes configurable DSP blocks making the device a strong solution to various use cases. The instantaneous channel bandwidth of up to 2.4 GHz provides the flexibility to select the band(s) of interest or process a very wide frequency. DSP processing blocks can filter and select desired frequency bands. Processing such large amounts of data requires the ability to easily convert using the JESD204 interface standard and interface to standard field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Ease of use characteristics include a complete suite of application programmable interface software enabling the ability to configure the MxFE quickly. An on-chip clock PLL (multiplier) allows the user to select a low-frequency clock reference for lower overall component cost. Only two voltage supplies are required making the power management solution simpler.

The AD9081-FMCA-EBZ evaluation board includes all of the support circuitry required to operate the AD9081 in various modes and configurations. The application software used to interface with the device is also described. The AD9081-FMCA-EBZ evaluation board connects to Analog Devices’ ADS9-V2EBZ for evaluation with the ACE software. The boards can also interface to commercially available FPGA development boards from Xilinx® or Intel®.
