The FL-L Family is a 3V 65nm floating gate SPI NOR Flash family comprised of 3 products: the FL064L which is a 64 Mbit, the FL128L which is a 128 Mbit, and the FL256L which is a 256 Mbit. Major advantages of the FL-L family is that it offers a uniform 4 KByte sector architecture, with a reasonable die size, and offers much lower currents than other similar products from competitors. Since most NOR Flash suppliers offer a uniform 4 KByte sector architecture, many customers do not want to modify their software to account for two different types of sector architecture. This has prevented some Cypress customers from designing in the FL-S family of products. The uniform 4 KByte architecture offered by the FL-L Family, however opens up all of the opportunities Cypress could not address earlier with the FL-S hybrid sector architecture. Moreover, some power sensitive applications require very low currents, and the FL-L family addresses this need too, which will be explained further in the rest of the slides in this module.
